What is the meaning of being an emerging artist, What implications the term “emerging” has and how can the art market influence the artist’s career and life path?
First of all, let's start saying that one has to become emergent first.
To me, being an emerging artist means to keep having a watchful eye on other interesting and talented visual artists such as painters and designers. The internet is a great means
of knowledge so as to get to know several more or less unknown artists and to see online galleries scattered all around the world.
So, by doing this I keep myself up to date about the latest techniques, tools to use, concepts and forms of expressions in order also to not falling behind.
At the same time I try to work as much as I can on my works and keep looking into the reality and its multiple facets.
An Emergent artist is someone who manages to start making distinctive works differentiating him/herself from the others relying on its own capabilities or getting external help.
I think that if a person, who has some power, says that an artist is good so this will help to make that artist becomes more visible and sell more works or start selling.
On the other end the best artists more or less will emerge….those who create something important or who say something very remarkable…
I think being emerging is partially a matter of age because, for example, there are artists who emerged far beyond 30 years old. I reckon that a gallerist can be very interested in a 50years old artist's works if these are relevant as well as a critic can be amazed of a 60 years old man's works who has been creating artworks as a hobby.
I don't know how an artist could never never get lost in our contemporary society. Maybe it depends how strong the artist is in terms of characters and ideas as well as how can rely on his/her own art without fearing of not to be followed.
